Q.

Does the City of Dania Beach provide my water and sewer utility?

A.

If you reside west of I-95, water service is provided by Broward County.  Please contact Broward County Water and Wastewater Services at 954-831-3250 to set up water service.

Q.

How do I open a residential water account serviced by the City of Dania Beach?

A.

·      To open a tenant account, an application form is required along with a current signed notarized lease agreement.

·       To open an owner account an application form is required along with copy of the warranty deed showing proof of ownership.

·      Each application must be accompanied by the appropriate application fee. A social Security or Federal Identification Number will be required to open an account.

·       The application fees are as follows:

  •  - Residential units: $3.50 per applicant
  •  - Residential units for Canadians: $15.00 per applicant
  •  - Commercial accounts: $20.00 per applicant


 ·       Deposits for residential units will vary from $50.00 to $180.00 depending on the credit
      rating established. Deposits for Commercial accounts will be determined by credit rating
      and meter size.

Q.

How can I pay my water bill?

A.

  • Pay online here on the City's website, you will need the account number and the exact billing name (click here)
  • Pay in person at City Hall. We currently accept credit/debit cards, cash, checks, or money orders at the cashier window
  • Payments can be mailed to: City of Dania Beach, 100 W. Dania Beach Boulevard, Dania Beach, FL  33004. (checks or money orders only)
  • Payments (checks or money orders only) may also be placed in the Drop Box which is located at the entrance to the City Hall. Payments made in the drop box after 8:00 a.m. during business days will be posted the next business day
  • Payments can be made through automatic bank drafting.  Applications are available online (click here) or at City Hall
  • Most banks now offer online bill pay
  • We are unable to take any payments over the phone


Q.

When is my utility bill due for payment?

A.

Utility bills are due when rendered and will consider delinquent if not paid within 20 days after the initial billing date.  The cut-off time for payment is 4:00 p.m. on the last day of due date or termination date.  Water service will be interrupted if payment is not made within 30 days from date of billing.  A $30.00 turn on fee will be charged if payment to reinstate service is made before 4:00 p.m. A $80.00 turn-on fee will be charged if payment to reinstate service is made after 4:00 p.m.

Q.

When do I get my deposit back?

A.

Under the City Code of Ordinance Section 27-24, a customer’s deposit will be refunded if within a period of 23 consecutive months, the customer has not in the preceding 12 months had any of the following:
  • More than one late payment
  • Paid with a check refused by a bank
  • Had service disconnected
  • Tampered with the meter
The City will at the close of the fiscal year credit the account with the deposit plus interest at the average annual rate earned by the City. This credit will appear on your bill either in September or October depending on your billing cycle.

Q.

What is the current monthly residential utility fee schedule and what service are included?

A.

(Residential rates effective October 1, 2012)
Water:
   Base:  $14.55
   $4.09 for each 1000  gallons up to 5,000
   $6.54 for each 1000  gallons from 5,001 to 14,000
   $8.17 for each 1000 gallons over $14,000
Sewer:
   Base:  $21.52
   $7.46 for each 1000 gallons of water used 

No sewer charge if you have a separate sprinkler meter.
 

 

Q.

What is the fee for a lien search?

A.

$100.00 per folio number. 

Q.

What is the normal response time for a lien search?

A.

Normal processing time for each folio number is within 5 business days.

Q.

Is a fax request for a lien search acceptable?

A.

No, fax request is not acceptable.  All lien searches must be mailed or dropped off in person to 100 W Dania Beach Blvd and accompanied by the appropriate fee.

Q.

Are vendors required to be present at bid opening?

A.

Bidders are not required to be present, however, bid openings are open to public and three staff members will be present at each bid opening.

Q.

How can I receive notification of sealed bids or request for proposals relevant to my company?

A.

Obtain a vendor registration form (click here) and return to the City upon completion.  The City will make every effort to include your firm on the mailing list for the bid in question.  

Q.

Who should I contact regarding questions on my tax bill?

A.

Questions regarding the taxable or assessed value of your home should be directed to the Broward County Property Appraiser at 954-357-6830. For further information (click here).

Questions regarding fire assessment, storm water assessment, solid waste assessment or the tax rate levied by the City of Dania Beach, should be directed to the City of Dania Beach Finance Department at 954-924-6800 Option 5.  All other questions should be directed to the individual taxing authority responsible for the levy.  A list of contact numbers for each authority can be found on your TRIM notice.
